Common belief: Having a big breakfast will provide you with an abundance of energy that you need to get you through the day.
Truth: A big breakfast actually requires too much energy from the body, first thing in the morning. This is because digestion takes up to 80% of our body’s energy for the day. CRAZY, right?! Having a big breakfast will deteriorate your energy, making you crave foods that are higher in calories, having you reach for less desirable foods later on in the day.
Although weight-loss, and looking good may be the things that seem most important today, in reality, your internal health, and the way you feel, is ultimately heaps more valuable than looking hot in that tight red dress. Now don’t get me wrong. Who doesn’t want to look good in their clothes? Everyone does!
That’s why, by following these morning rituals, you will gradually start to feel better and more energized, while also losing inches around your waist.
Drinking water on an empty stomach upon rising is very common in Japan and is actually the first thing I have started to do every morning for the past 3 months. Science has also proven the significance of this method, as it has been found to treat all kinds of illness, from headaches to diseases as severe as epilepsy and meningitis. Now there are no side effects to this morning ritual, well besides having to urinate about 10 times more often than usual :P But this is just the beginning of cleansing… Find out what I do to feel good and energized throughout the week, below!
1. Upon waking in the morning, drink 4 x 160ml glasses of water (It may be hard for some people to drink this much water at the very beginning of starting this technique. If this is the case, drink as much as you can before eating.)
2. Wait 45 minutes until you eat and drink normally.
I drink the glowing green smoothie as my first meal of the day (after water) to ensure digestion is easier throughout the day. I, and many people I have introduced this breakfast drink to, find it extremely enjoyable to drink, while admitting that it keeps them full for most of the morning.

Ingredients, Serves One:
1 cup Spinach
1 cup Romaine
1-2 Celery Stalks
1 Small Pear or Green Apple
2 tbsp Lemon
Some people have noticed how happy I am and how good I feel these days, and have asked me, “Can’t you just eat all of these different fruits and vegetables on their own, in their full form?” Well you most certainly can, and this will definitely be a good start, but the reason the glowing green smoothie is such a great aid in improving digestion is because it is already broken down and partly liquefied when it enters your body, making it extremely easy for your body to handle. You will digest the smoothie fairly quickly, and you may feel hungry before lunch. This is completely normal. Have a slice of whole wheat or gluten free toast with raw almond butter or fresh avocado to hold you over through to lunch.
Ensuring Ongoing Cleaning:
As you begin to drink the GGS every morning, your body will begin a cleansing process throughout the day and while you are sleeping. Other denser foods like toast and oatmeal won’t give you that same energy boost first thing in the morning, and will actually STOP the cleansing process. Starting your day with hot water and lemon, (or just water) and the glowing green smoothie, will give you that increase in fiber your body needs to promote ongoing cleansing by making more frequent trips to the bathroom.
